How does DeadlineFTP connect to my camera?
DeadlineFTP uses standard FTP. You configure your camera's built-in FTP client with the server address and credentials we provide. Photos can be uploaded automatically as you shoot, say from a remote camera, or you can select individual frames to send during timeouts or other breaks in the action. Most professional cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, and others support FTP.
What cameras are compatible?
Any camera that supports FTP upload works with DeadlineFTP. This includes most professional and prosumer bodies from Canon (EOS R series, 1DX), Nikon (Z series, D series), Sony (Alpha series), and others. You can also use FTP-capable transmitters with any camera. See our camera setup guides for specific models.
How does the desktop app work?
DeadlineFTP Connect is a desktop app for Mac that downloads photos to a local folder. As photos upload from your camera, they appear in your designated folder within seconds. When you edit a photo in the web gallery, you can push it to the desktop app to update the local file with your changes.
How long are photos stored on DeadlineFTP?
Photos are retained on DeadlineFTP servers for 24 hours after upload, then automatically deleted. This keeps your storage allocation available for new shoots. Make sure to download or export your photos before they expire.
Are my edits non-destructive?
Yes. DeadlineFTP stores your original files and applies edits on export. You can always reset to the original or change your edits. XMP metadata is embedded in exported JPEG files and written to sidecar files for RAW formats.
Can I export to wire services like AP or Reuters?
Yes. DeadlineFTP's FTP export feature lets you send edited photos to any FTP server, including wire services. Configure the server once and export with one click. All IPTC metadata (caption, keywords, copyright) is embedded in the exported file.
Can I share galleries with clients?
Yes. You can create shareable gallery links with optional password protection. Clients can view photos in a clean gallery interface and download individual images or entire galleries as ZIP files.
Do I need a credit card for the free trial?
No. You can start your free trial without entering payment information. You'll only be asked for payment when the trial ends and you choose to continue.
